On June 28-29, 2018 at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Department of Import and Export held a consultation meeting on the certification of origin for staffs who issue and manage a certificate of origin. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Soulinhon Phillavong, Director General of Department of Import and Export, attracting more than 60 representatives from the Vientiane Capital and Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce, Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Special Economic Zones.
The objective of the meeting is to monitor and evaluate the implementation of Lao PDR's rules of origin. Since Ministry of Industry and Commerce has designated the Vientiane and Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and special economic zones in 2012 in managing the issuance of Certificates of Origin with special preferences.
The meeting took 02 days, which was subject to technical issues and a review of the implementation of legal documents related to the management of certificate of origin. The meeting aims to focus on collecting, summarizing and reporting the export statistics with special preferences and company profile with the certificate of origin. Therefore, it is necessary to review, improve and consult the issues related to import and export.
